Coming May 11: Virtual Road Scholars Series
Alabama Humanities’ Road Scholars program is going virtual with its first ever series of presentations on Zoom.

As part of our effort to deliver greater access of our programs, AHF will launch the series with “Pen Strokes of Justice: Judge Horton and the Scottsboro Boys.” It will be followed by a book discussion by Peggy Towns, author of “Scottsboro Boys: Decatur’s Story.”

National Travel and Tourism Week

National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual tradition for the U.S. travel community. It’s a time when travel and tourism professionals across the country unite to celebrate the value travel holds for our economy, businesses and personal wellbeing.

This year, the coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency is having an unprecedented impact on the travel industry and the entire economy. Now more than ever, the travel and tourism community must come together, support each other and remind our country that even through the most difficult times, the Spirit of Travel cannot be broken.

This week, as part of our #MoCoCares Virtual Event Series, we’ll be hosting virtual events and other exciting content pertaining to National Travel and Tourism Week. Mark your calendars for Monday (5/4) at 5:00 PM as we kick off National Tourism and Travel Week with a big announcement from Danielle Gibson, President and CEO of Decatur Morgan County Tourism.

Sunday- Join us for another #MoCoCares Event at 5:00 PM as we sit down with Nurse Jesse (virtually) and discuss nursing news.

Monday- We’ll be sharing some of our favorite wayfinding/special signs in Morgan County. We want to see yours! Be sure to share them in the post comments on Monday!

Have you heard that there is a group of high school students who are starting real businesses in our community? On Wednesday, April 15, there will be a virtual shark tank where they present their business ideas to a panel of judges. Learn more about Decatur Morgan CEO, meet this year's CEOs, and tune in to watch them pitch to local judges Chakri Deverapalli (UAH), Robbie Laney (Magnolia River), and Kim Lewis (Project XYZ).

Instead of our typical street festival, we will be encouraging folks to order take-out from their favorite restaurant, shop online, and curbside pickup.
